POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves conducting research, developing technologies, refining designs, and assessing new products. You will be accountable for outcomes regarding costs, methodologies, and procedures. Responsibilities include researching, reviewing, and analyzing technical literature while staying informed on relevant issues and technical data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine customer source control drawings, specification control drawings, and other relevant specifications to ascertain requirements and feasibility of components and products.
- Draft initial design proposals.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve manufacturing/design challenges and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between Engineering and all manufacturing operations for related issues, challenges, or enhancements.
- Work alongside Quality and Customer Service Departments to identify problem areas and implement product enhancements based on customer feedback.
- Engage in engineering and general design reviews as necessary.
- Refine and finalize designs following design review meetings.
- Prepare proposal documentation.
- Generate technical documents such as qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, reports, and maintenance manuals.
- Communicate with customers regarding engineering designs and address any inquiries or issues they may have.
- Provide technical assistance to Sales and other related departments.
- Engage with vendors regarding parts they supply or propose to supply to the company.
- Coordinate with internal groups, including purchasing, quality assurance, sales, production, accounting, metal finishing, and assembly as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with all department engineers and designers to complete assignments, projects, and meet overall departmental objectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) tools and software.
- Proficient in AutoCAD engineering drawing software.
- Experience with Inventor and 3D modeling software.
- Skilled in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and capable of interpreting results.
- Able to manage complex product design and development projects from inception to validated product launch.
- Competent in reading, analyzing, and interpreting intricate documents.
- Capable of writing presentations and articles using original or innovative techniques.
- Able to collaborate in a team environment with technical and shop personnel.
- Proficient in applying principles of calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory.
- Able to apply logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical challenges.
- Skilled in handling various abstract and concrete variables.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Degree plan related to heavy equipment manufacturing is advantageous.
- Experience in new product development is a plus.
*The annual base salary range for this position is approximately $72,000 to $95,000. Please note that this is a general guideline, and the offered salary will be based on the candidate's training, education, work experience, and skill set.
