The Presidio Trust is in search of a Regulatory Compliance Program Manager within the Planning and Compliance Department. This role is pivotal in overseeing the permitting operations for a historic national park that blends rich history with natural beauty.

The Permitting Operations Director will be responsible for managing a comprehensive permitting program that encompasses various types of permits, including but not limited to Dig Permits, Building Permits, and Encroachment Permits. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and managerial acumen to ensure that all projects adhere to established health, safety, and welfare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Trust's permitting program, ensuring compliance with adopted codes and policies.
  • Provide guidance to subordinate staff on procedural matters and legislative updates.
  • Coordinate with engineering and architectural teams, contractors, and local agencies to resolve construction-related issues.
  • Review and approve permit applications, ensuring they meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and monitor ongoing projects for compliance throughout the construction process.
  • Support planning and development teams with preliminary code analysis and occupancy requirements.
  • Collaborate with fire safety officials to ensure compliance with fire and life safety systems.
  • Participate in the Trust's Planning Review Team to ensure all project submissions meet design and environmental standards.
  • Manage the annual budget for the permitting program and monitor revenue from permit applications.
  • Develop and report on key performance indicators related to the permitting process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of twelve years of relevant experience in building inspection or construction management.
  • Ability to obtain ICC certification in relevant disciplines.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in historic preservation and municipal permitting practices.
  • Knowledge of engineering and architectural standards.
  • Ability to interpret laws and regulations with independent judgment.
