Position Overview

Dietitian Role

As a Dietitian with the Defense Health Agency, you will collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals dedicated to serving military personnel and their families. Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  • Conducting thorough nutrition assessments to evaluate patients' health and dietary needs.
  • Performing anthropometric measurements to assess nutritional status and growth.
  • Utilizing computer software for nutrient analysis of dietary intake, comparing it to established dietary requirements.
  • Designing tailored feeding plans, including enteral and parenteral nutrition, based on the latest standards of practice.
  • Educating patients, staff, and students on nutrition therapy and dietary management.
  • Developing and updating policies and protocols related to nutrition and dietetic practices.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A Bachelor's or higher degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program or clinical internship approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
  • One year of specialized experience in providing medical nutrition therapy and educating others on nutrition topics.

For candidates with foreign education, credentials must be evaluated to ensure equivalency to U.S. educational standards.
