Position Summary:
The Retail Sales Representative plays a crucial role in assisting customers with their purchasing decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and engage with customers effectively.
- Assess customer needs and preferences regarding available products.
- Showcase and explain product features, providing tailored recommendations.
- Communicate pricing, credit options, and prepare sales documentation.
- Retrieve merchandise from the sales area and facilitate special orders as necessary.
- Establish and nurture customer relationships by maintaining accurate customer and sales records.
- Address customer complaints and escalate issues to management when needed.
- Resolve customer inquiries regarding products or services.
- Accurately operate the cash register and process transactions.
- Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, and credit/debit cards.
- Manage returns and exchanges in accordance with store policies.
- Assist in stocking and organizing merchandise, ensuring a tidy sales environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Effective verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in operating equipment such as cash registers and scanners.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Familiarity with building products and relevant local regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of company offerings and customer service policies.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of on-the-job training, including levels 1 and 2 of the training program.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work with computer systems.
- Capability to lift items weighing up to 30 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks over extended durations.
