Overview:
The Regional Sales Manager is accountable for overseeing a designated service area, providing direct guidance to route representatives.

This role is crucial for achieving service outcomes within the territory, focusing on customer loyalty, business expansion, managing losses, budget adherence, employee retention, accounts receivable (AR) management, customer renewals, direct sales, and overall customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:
Effectively assess, mentor, and enhance the performance of Route Sales Representatives (RSRs) within your region.

Reports directly to a Service Manager or, in the presence of a Senior Regional Manager, will report to them.
If neither is available, will report to the General Manager.

Foster a collaborative sales environment that encourages team selling through Together-In-Growth (TIG) and Shared Lead initiatives.

Assist in the onboarding of new accounts as directed by the Service Manager and/or General Manager.

Oversee daily operations of customer service programs for the region.

Conduct quarterly visits to all required customers to assess growth and service potential.

Ensure RSRs address and resolve all service inquiries promptly.

Establish clear customer service expectations and lead by example.

Allocate 60% of time to travel with service professionals, observing routes and visiting customer sites (including required visits, TIG days, and daily follow-ups).

Proactively monitor at-risk accounts and address service issues swiftly.

Negotiate and finalize renewal contracts with existing clients to safeguard pricing and profitability.

Recruit, select, and onboard Route Sales personnel.

Conduct weekly in-person meetings with each RSR to discuss trends, performance, coaching, and identify areas for improvement.

Facilitate and participate in training sessions to ensure customer retention and service objectives are achieved.

Maintain daily communication (via remote means) with RSRs to resolve pending issues and ensure timely resolutions.

Attend meetings and complete necessary administrative tasks to enhance customer satisfaction.

Coordinate collections for accounts receivable.

Ensure adherence to merchandise control protocols.

Promote and maintain a culture of safety.

Investigate and report all accidents or incidents within 24 hours of notification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven ability to effectively collaborate with various organizational functions to achieve objectives.

Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, and customer service skills.

Significant negotiation capabilities.

Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office suite.

Experience in sales functions is preferred.

Strong management, human relations, and communication skills.

Working Environment/Safety Requirements:


The majority of time will involve driving a personal vehicle or company van to engage with customers and supervise team members in the assigned service area.

Exposure to local weather conditions (heat, wind, cold, rain, snow, etc.) is expected.

Customer visits may require walking, climbing stairs, and pushing/pulling carts, with exposure to varying weather conditions.


Must be capable of frequently lifting and maneuvering up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, as well as loading/unloading products from a vehicle without assistance.


Time will also be spent in an office environment, with exposure to loading docks, production, and warehouse areas, as well as vehicle maintenance activities.


Experience and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred or equivalent experience.

A minimum of two years in service and route-based industries, demonstrating a successful track record in expanding customer accounts.

Experience with profit and loss accountability and/or contract-managed services is preferred.

Extensive customer interaction and service experience.

Experience in production planning, maintenance, or warehouse operations is preferred.

License Requirements/Certifications:
Valid driver's license.

Automobile insurance for personal vehicle.

Successful completion of background checks, motor vehicle record checks, and drug screening.
