Job Title: Chief Engineer

SNC is a leading provider of innovative solutions in the aerospace and defense sectors. We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to join our team and lead the technical execution of one of our largest ISR programs.

Job Summary:

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to the Ground Support Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT). This includes overseeing the development of ground support equipment, logistics, and training systems, as well as ensuring the technical direction of the IPT aligns with program requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Ground Support Systems IPT
  • Oversee the development of ground support equipment, logistics, and training systems
  • Ensure the technical direction of the IPT aligns with program requirements
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and other IPT leads to ensure program success
  • Develop and maintain customer technical relationships with key customer representatives and suppliers
  • Recruit, hire, train, and support direct reports and engineering team members
  • Manage multiple suppliers, including creating SOWs and technical specifications, design reviews, EVM performance, and qualification and acceptance test activities
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, System Engineering or related technical discipline and typically 14 years of experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of program management, aircraft design, aerospace & defense, and/or engineering programs
  • Prior experience leading a team of engineers and the programs they are managing; ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee career development, succession planning, performance management, coaching, mentoring, as well as holding people accountable
  • Experience directing the preparation of proposals, business plans, specifications, and approves basis of estimates and rough order of magnitudes for potential pursuits and ensuring all resources such as engineering, manpower, production and facilities are available to support the program
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of managing the cost, schedule and technical performance requirements of multiple programs through all phases from inception to completion
  • Proven track-record developing, communicating, and executing to meet technical program performance
  • Ability to manage complex situations, delegate authority, lead and inspire your team, drive innovative thinking, instill collaboration, drive for success, challenge status quo and demonstrate ability to adapt to dynamic situations
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms; ability to tailor conversations to adapt to technical vs. non-technical audiences
  • Earned Value Management experience
  • Understanding of ITAR, licensing, and compliance requirements
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Technical Leadership experience in large aircraft modification programs
  • Extensive experience on programs with aircraft flight and ground test programs
  • Experience with large program training systems and processed including mission system and aircraft trainers with full flight simulation capabilities
  • Experience with Technical publications for aircraft maintenance and operations
  • Experience with Integrated Logistics approaches for large scale aircraft ensuring Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability are architected into the program design
  • Experience with technical risk identification and managements approaches and processes
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies
  • Ability to establish centralized, coordinating body for program concerns, recommendations, and issues; developing recommended process improvements; facilitating opportunities with corporate
  • Ability to establish new and further refining existing templates, tools, and guidelines for program documentation and execution
  • Experience with ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2000 Policies and Processes
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets
