Medical Assistant II

As a Medical Assistant at Covenant Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an outpatient clinical setting. You will work under the supervision of the attending provider and practice office manager to assess patients' general condition, take vital signs, and administer medications as ordered. Your excellent communication skills and ability to multitask will enable you to provide exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare team.
Responsibilities:
• Assess patients' general condition and take vital signs and weight.
• Assist provider with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments, including phlebotomy, injections, and suturing.
• Administer patient medications per provider order and policy, including appropriate dosage, route, site, and documentation.
• Orient, instruct, and train assigned personnel as applicable.
• Provide basic patient care as ordered.
• Ensure test results are received and relayed to patient in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to patients' comfort and privacy by using the AIDET fundamentals of communication.
• Document all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
• Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating providers' advice and instructions.
• Review and consult with provider regarding patient phone calls and urgency of appointment.
• Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment.
• Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintain all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
• Maintain confidentiality in matters regarding the practice, its patients, and employees.
Requirements:
• One (1) year of experience required as a certified Medical Assistant from a recognized certifying organization.
• American Heart Association BLS required.
• Ability to use a variety of office and medical equipment, including telephone, computer, fax, stethoscope, EKG machine, ear washing equipment, scales, thermometers, blood pressure cuff, and basic lab equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
