Patient Account Coordinator

Northwell Health seeks a skilled Patient Account Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for performing billing, collections, and third-party reimbursements, as well as computer data entry and retrieval. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform charge and payment entry, coding, and ensure accurate completion of coding for all assigned physician specialties.
- Aid in the review of physician coding and identify possible conflicts in rules.
- Notify physicians when discrepancies are identified for correction.
- Coordinate incoming mail with open queue charges to maintain queue status.
- Read and interpret insurance explanation of benefits; respond to insurance payer edits, rejections, and denials; identify cause of rejections and choose most appropriate methods to resolve them.
- Create detailed, well-versed typed letters to insurances and patients.
- Develop effective appeal packages to submit to insurances.
- Communicate effectively and professionally when speaking with insurances and patients.
- Maintain organized files of incoming and completed work.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-1 years of relevant experience required.
- Insurance eligibility experience preferred.
- Healthcare experience highly preferred.
Estimated Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 per year, based on location and experience.
