Key Responsibilities:

This engineering role is part of the Facilities Team within the Operations Directorate of the Coast Guard Exchange System. The position involves a variety of tasks that may be performed at various Coast Guard Exchange System facilities across the United States.

As an Interdisciplinary General Engineer, you will leverage your engineering expertise and project management skills to oversee projects from initial identification through to completion. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing design, construction, and modification projects for government and leased properties.
  • Resolving complex issues related to engineering design, planning, and compliance with regulations.
  • Evaluating designs submitted by private sector architects and engineers to ensure adherence to Coast Guard standards.
  • Creating specifications and technical drawings for projects.
  • Acting as the Contracting Officer's Representative on contracts related to architecture, engineering, and construction.
  • Preparing independent government cost estimates and assessing contractor proposals.
  • Engaging in negotiations with contractors.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must possess a degree in engineering from an accredited institution, or a combination of education and experience that provides a thorough understanding of engineering principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum requirements, candidates should have at least one year of specialized experience in managing engineering projects, including the development of specifications and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams.
