The Truss Designer plays a pivotal role in crafting truss designs tailored for both residential and commercial projects, adhering to client specifications and industry standards. This position is essential in ensuring compliance with all relevant codes while also providing support to manufacturing and sales teams regarding production issues and order updates. The role also encompasses estimating responsibilities for various projects, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in accordance with departmental guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other applications to develop, draft, and finalize truss drawings.
  • Collaborate with customers and sales personnel to assess design requirements, addressing any issues or concerns that arise.
  • Generate design solutions, prepare drawings, compile bills of materials, and identify vendors for customer proposals, ensuring adherence to all compliance standards.
  • Conduct and evaluate industrial engineering time and activity studies, implementing value-added techniques in material handling and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding job status with internal teams, general contractors, and clients, ensuring that all parties are informed of current expectations.
  • Manage customer requests for change orders, ensuring that approved modifications are executed through the appropriate channels.
  • Perform estimating tasks related to the design and scope of assigned projects.
  • May undertake additional duties as assigned.
  • The Truss Designer reports directly to the Component Design Manager and does not have any direct reports.
Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in construction framing for residential or commercial structures, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in mathematics, particularly geometry and graphic skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and collaborate with training leads to gather necessary information for task completion.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Salary: $26-$34 per hour based on experience.
