The Truss Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in crafting truss designs tailored to the specifications and requirements of both residential and commercial projects. This position ensures that all designs adhere to relevant compliance standards and customer expectations. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with manufacturing to troubleshoot production challenges and keeping sales and clients informed about order progress. The role also encompasses estimating tasks for both commercial and residential projects, ensuring that assigned workloads meet departmental benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, draft, and finalize truss designs utilizing AutoCAD and various design software.
  • Support customers and sales personnel by assessing design needs and effectively addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Devise design solutions, generate drawings, prepare bills of materials, and identify vendors for customer proposals, ensuring compliance with all necessary standards.
  • Conduct and evaluate industrial engineering time and activity assessments, applying value-added methodologies to material handling and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding job status with internal teams, general contractors, and clients, ensuring that all parties are updated on expectations.
  • Manage customer requests for change orders and ensure that approved modifications are executed through the appropriate channels.
  • Perform estimating tasks related to the design and scope of assigned projects.
  • May undertake additional duties as required.
  • The Truss Design Engineer reports to the Component Design Manager and does not have direct reports.
Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in construction framing for residential or commercial structures or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in mathematics, particularly geometry and graphic representation.
  • Solid understanding of AutoCAD software.
  • Able to articulate questions to team members and collaborate with training leads to gather necessary information for task completion.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Salary: $26-$34 per hour based on experience.
