Position Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering professional surgical nursing care by employing the nursing process and collaborating with healthcare team members, including physicians, to ensure quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Assist in both emergency and elective surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to guarantee optimal patient care.
- Act as a liaison between the surgical team and patients' families.
- Organize necessary supplies for surgical procedures.
- Conduct patient assessments before, during, and after surgery while maintaining a sterile environment.
- Implement count procedures to prevent unintended retained foreign objects and ensure correct site, side, and level procedures.
- Monitor patients' physiological systems and maintain fluid and electrolyte balance.
- Administer medications as per physician directives.
- Engage patients or their designated support persons in decisions regarding their postoperative care and rehabilitation.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must:
- Hold a degree from an accredited nursing program (Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher).
- Possess a valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
- Have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Preferably have at least one year of experience in Perioperative Nursing.
