About the Role

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of ultrasound procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies, accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, and compare requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, adjusting factors as needed to attain the appropriate images.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, documenting billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
Requirements
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within 3 months, or Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 3 months, or Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 3 months.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS within 18 months, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 18 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
Education and Experience
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
