About the Role

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies, accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, and compare requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, adjusting factors as needed to attain the appropriate images.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, documenting billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Identify equipment performance issues, communicate with appropriate staff, and evaluate new products and equipment for possible future use.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, or cost containment projects/initiatives and contribute to the achievement/maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
Requirements
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent certification.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent certification.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced training beyond high school in Sonography.
  • 2 years of experience in a Sonographer role.
