Job Title: Direct Support Professional

At The Arc of Northeastern PA, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in becoming fully included in their communities.

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional will assist residential consumers in developing their skills, enhancing their self-image, and maximizing their independence in life. This role requires a strong commitment to providing person-centered care and support, as well as a willingness to work collaboratively with our team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our consumers.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing Person-Centered/Individual Service Plans, including outcomes, prescriptive techniques, medical needs, etc.
  • Attend to the daily needs of individuals, including medication administration, personal hygiene, meal preparation, and personal attention.
  • Provide a safe and adequate home-like environment for individuals, performing domestic duties such as light housekeeping, laundry, supply and grocery shopping, etc.
  • Assist individuals in identifying personal interests and establishing community connections with supports where necessary.
  • Implement consumer behavior support plans and enable consumers to experience a variety of meaningful leisure activities in inclusive community programs.
  • Provide transportation to community activities, job, volunteer, or program options, medical appointments, and places of individual choice.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One year of experience working directly with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • A minimum age of 18 is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to work in a drug-free workplace setting is required.
  • A criminal background check is required.
Physical Demands:

Individual must be able to meet established physical requirements of job, including lifting various weights, providing ambulatory assistance, performing restraintive techniques, and performing any necessary CPR/First Aid.
