Fleet Maintenance Manager Job Description

Salary: $75,000 - $110,000 per year

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Maintenance Manager to join our team at Greater Bridgeport Transit. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of buses and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct maintenance staff in their daily activities, including training and development;
  • Plan and execute maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization;
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards;
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to procure maintenance services and materials;
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve fleet efficiency;
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of maintenance activities with overall business objectives;
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., mechanical engineering, transportation management) or 8-10 years of experience in transit fleet maintenance;
  • Proven track record of successfully managing maintenance teams and projects;
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license and CDL;
