About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner of Psychiatry to join our team at Greenwich House. As a key member of our Health Services Division, you will provide patient care for individuals seeking or in treatment for mental health and substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans in accordance with statutes, regulations, and protocols regulating the profession.
  • Collaborate with staff physicians and advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and technical personnel to improve outcomes and care coordination.
  • Provide psychiatric health services, education, individual and group counseling, and assessment, primarily onsite but through telemental health when indicated.
  • Refer patients for inpatient care as necessary.
  • Issue medication prescriptions in accordance with treatment guidelines.
  • Administer injectable medications as clinically indicated.
  • Order laboratory tests, interpret, and explain the test results to patients.
  • Communicate with patients and engage in follow-up as necessary.
Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience as a licensed practicing NPP, preferably in a community-based non-profit or other mission-driven organization targeting adult underserved populations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, including dually diagnosed and harm reduction.
  • Knowledge of Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and extended-release naltrexone (Vivitrol).
  • Ability to communicate and work as a team with Greenwich House HSD managerial and line staff.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulations and compliance requirements for documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic-thinking skills, ethical decision-making, and discretionary judgment.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, supervise, evaluate, train, and manage health professional students.
  • Respectful, collaborative, and energetic style.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work under pressure.
  • Nurse Practitioner of Psychiatry and NYS licensure required.
