POSITION SUMMARY:

The Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of machinery to ensure the continuous and efficient production of high-quality flour tortillas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completion of Lockout/Tagout training is mandatory prior to engaging in training or operating machinery.
  • Operate all equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as outlined in the Production Manual.
  • Prepare machinery for start-up or shut down as required.
  • Maintain accurate records, including the Line Operator's Log.
  • Stop machinery to make necessary adjustments while adhering to lockout-tagout protocols.
  • Uphold good manufacturing practices and personal hygiene standards.
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean and organized.
  • Report any contamination, mechanical, or operational issues to the Supervisor and Quality Control.
  • Complete the Machine Operators Training Checklist tasks within the designated trial period.
  • Ensure product specifications are met according to customer requirements.
  • Follow all safety policies and operate equipment safely.
  • Monitor and report any wear and tear on machinery.
  • Ability to enter data into the Plant View system is essential.
  • Attendance at end-of-shift meetings may be required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member to achieve tasks.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Flexibility of wrists and hands is necessary.
  • Physical activities include walking, bending, standing, and some lifting.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs is required.
  • Ability to move heavy objects (up to 100 lbs) using mechanical aids.
  • Capability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Proficiency in using and reading scales and thermometers.
  • Ability to utilize a calculator for production yields, scrap yields, and SPC specifications.
  • Familiarity with reading all associated SOPs, including Operator's Logs and SPC charts.
  • Ability to accurately document production records in the Operator's Logs.
  • Availability to work weekends and overtime as necessary.
  • Minimum of 3 months of continuous machine operator experience is required.
