Job Summary


The Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology will oversee a dynamic department committed to excellence in education, research, and clinical services.

In recent years, the faculty has expanded the clinical reach, establishing a significant presence within the healthcare system and the community.

The incoming Chair will join the University at a crucial juncture in healthcare and biomedical innovation, shaping a comprehensive vision that integrates research, patient care, education, and community service.

The Chair will be accountable for all departmental functions, including faculty leadership and development, financial oversight, and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.

Additionally, the Chair will represent the Department within the broader university context, facilitating collaboration and engaging with external stakeholders and donors.


The University seeks a visionary and inspiring leader with exceptional management capabilities and a comprehensive understanding of the future landscape of Radiation Oncology.

The ideal candidate will have a proven history of collaborative leadership, administrative expertise, program development, educational excellence, and successful faculty recruitment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan and implement the next stages of departmental growth, leveraging the strengths of the Department, Medical School, and healthcare system.
  • Develop and lead the Department's research agenda, focusing on targeted investments in research initiatives and supporting faculty in securing funding.
  • Enhance clinical programs and advocate for technologies that improve patient care. Collaborate with departmental and healthcare system leadership to establish areas of clinical excellence.
  • Advance education and training by ensuring robust faculty support and innovating pre-clinical education.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with funding regulations.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain exceptional faculty, fostering a collegial and supportive environment.
  • Uphold ethical medical and financial practices within the Department.
  • Promote the university's strategic initiatives in Health Equity, Brain Health, Inflammation and Immunotherapy, and Destructive Technology.


The Chair of Radiation Oncology will possess outstanding leadership and communication skills, fostering collaboration and innovation.

They will demonstrate effective delegation skills and manage all departmental activities and missions. A commitment to research and education is essential, alongside a focus on collaborative outcomes.
