Radiation Oncology Faculty Position

We are seeking a highly qualified medical physicist to join our team as a faculty member in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all facets of radiation oncology physics clinical support and quality assurance at the primary center and satellite sites as needed.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field, be certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics, or have completed an accredited residency and be ABR board eligible. A record of scholarly achievement is also required.
Our team consists of 15 Ph.D. physicists and 22 radiation oncologists, assisted by a team of dosimetrists and therapists. We train ten radiation oncology and two medical physics residents in our CAMPEP-accredited program.
We utilize Varian accelerators and treatment planning systems to provide physics services for over 170 patients per day at our main campus and extension clinics. Procedures include IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, respiratory gating, stereotactic radiosurgery, SRS, SBRT, interstitial and intracavitary HDR, and TBI with photons and electrons.
