About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Imaging Support Specialist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. This role will provide critical support to our radiology department, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients between departments and escort patients, families, and visitors as needed.
  • Utilize radiology computer systems to generate requisitions, check schedules, and obtain pertinent patient information.
  • Assist patients in preparation for exams and transfer patients to and from exam rooms, providing basic instruction on routine procedures.
  • Organize and prepare exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to routine requests for information, reports, or film loans, and promptly answering telephone calls, screening calls, scheduling patient appointments, and taking messages.
  • Act as a liaison between ordering physicians, radiologists, and technologists, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Provide radiology reports and/or radiographic images to staff, physicians, patients, and/or family upon request, and file, retrieve, and release health information records and films.
  • Document requested information and promptly communicate observations, concerns, and needs of the patient with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Complete routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment, using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing, and caring for instruments and other equipment.
  • Assist with the screening and documentation of MRI implants based on department need.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • High School Graduate.
  • No experience required.
  • Competent in IV insertion and venipuncture, based on department need.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including experience in using computer applications/systems and electronic mail.
Working Conditions
  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above the shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with the ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for procedures or other functions.
