Employee Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Health Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care for MMC employees, identifying risks and hazards, assessing health status, and promoting overall health and well-being within the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and implement employee health orientation programs, working closely with departmental directors and administrators.
- Assist with revising and updating policies and procedures related to employee health.
- Make recommendations to the Director of HR regarding procedures for pre-employment and on-boarding processes.
- Report all pre-employment testing and vaccination processes.
- Attend required meetings and report to the CODE team as needed.
- Assist with employee testing for community-spread outbreaks, such as COVID-19.
- Perform communicable disease exposure follow-up and work closely with Human Resources to monitor employee work-related illness and injury trends.
- Assess, develop, and implement strategies to prevent work-acquired injury or illness and expedite return to work.
- Document work-related injuries and file work comp claims, working with employees throughout the process.
- Perform bloodborne pathogen exposure assessment, treatment, and follow-up.
- Keep logs and documents required by OSHA and coordinate preventative screening programs.
- Notify the County and/or State Health Department of any reportable diseases, adhering to internal county and state procedures.
- Maintain and ensure confidentiality of employee information and medical records.
- Act as an advocate for the rights of employees, ensuring access to preventative health and safety measures.
- Document and follow up on all patient injuries at any work location.
- Work with facilities management to ensure cleaning procedures support infection control standards.
- Maintain all AEDs, including monthly walk-throughs to check batteries.
- Work with the Quality Committee to develop and implement continuously improved patient care procedures and control mechanisms relating to quality, compliance, and infectious diseases.
- Current licensure as an LPN.
- Minimum of three (3) years' clinical experience in healthcare required.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations.
- Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize scheduling of work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information.
- Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving employees, patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.
