Job Title: Assistant Child Care Teacher

Edward Jones YMCA is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Assistant Child Care Teacher. As a key member of our early childhood education team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for our young learners.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement curriculum within established guidelines to promote children's cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Nurture children through purposeful programming, building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Supervise children, classroom, and activities, ensuring ADA accommodations where necessary and following all procedures and standards.
  • Conduct ongoing, systematic observations of individual children and maintain Developmental Portfolios.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with parents, conducting conferences and maintaining effective communication.
  • Engage parents/families, connecting them to the YMCA and promoting a sense of community.
  • Maintain program site and equipment, as well as required program records.
  • Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  • Assist with administrative duties, problem-solving, and family/YMCA communication, ensuring confidentiality of family, children, and staff information.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Preferred to be working toward CDA; Associates or Bachelor's Degree related to Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  • Preferred at least 1 year of experience in child care.
  • Ability to relate to children, families, branch staff members, and volunteers.
