Job Summary

As a Child Life Specialist at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in providing social, emotional, and developmental support to pediatric patients and their families during hospitalization. Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan interventions and develop educational activities to promote child development and well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Provide educational preparation to patients and families before anxiety-provoking tests or procedures through explanation, hands-on materials, and medical play.
  • Supply a caring and secure atmosphere for patients and their families in pediatrics.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan appropriate interventions and develop outreach and educational activities.
  • Act as a resource for families and the healthcare team regarding child development, behavior modification, and compliance issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Human Development, or a related field.
  • No experience required, but completion of a Child Life Specialist internship is preferred.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification from the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP).
