Overview

St. Francis Medical Center is a premier healthcare institution serving the Southeast Los Angeles community. As a Clinical Lab Supervisor, you will be part of a team dedicated to providing high-quality medical care and services to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily operation of the laboratory section(s)
  • Provide consultative services to the medical staff as a Technical Consultant
  • Oversee the laboratory's performance improvement program and participate in hospital-wide initiatives
  • Manage the technical and fiscal aspects of the laboratory section(s)
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards
  • Assess staff competency and complete performance evaluations
  • Ensure the accuracy of patient results prior to release
  • Develop and maintain laboratory policy and procedure manuals
  • Review quality control performance and document corrective actions
  • Identify and address problems affecting test performance
  • Perform a wide range of laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Recognize age-specific differences in expected results
  • Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples
  • Adhere to all department and hospital policies and procedures
Requirements
  • ASCP certification or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution
