Position Overview

The Senior Project Management Specialist plays a pivotal role within the project team, overseeing comprehensive project risk management, strategic planning, contracting, and overall administration of all project elements. This role entails managing either a singular, large-scale project or multiple projects, tailored to the needs of the organization and the specific projects. The Senior Project Management Specialist will act as a team leader, guiding project teams in daily operations including budgeting, change management, risk assessment, scheduling, and procurement oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise multiple project teams or a single large project team, ensuring proper staffing and adherence to established milestones.
  • Serve as the project team advocate, ensuring team members are well-trained in project management standards and best practices.
  • Proactively assess and manage financial risks associated with each project.
  • Oversee timely submission of payment applications and manage divisional accounts receivable.
  • Maintain an updated understanding of project closeout statuses, providing necessary oversight.
  • Collaborate with project teams to address situations requiring executive-level intervention.
  • Communicate project status and risks to senior management as necessary.
  • Foster relationships with subcontractors and act as the primary contact during pre-construction phases.
  • Support project teams in resolving escalated issues that require executive-level decision-making.
  • Work alongside the Business Development Manager to implement a Market Engagement Plan.
  • Assist in mentoring project management personnel and facilitating relevant training sessions.
  • Develop and sustain executive-level relationships with clients and the local subcontractor community.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for designated employees and assist in recruitment processes.
  • Coordinate regular project team meetings and collaborate with estimating departments for bids and proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations on job sites in collaboration with the General Superintendent and Safety Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, with a preference for candidates possessing 10+ years of relevant management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading project teams through design, pre-construction, and construction phases.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Professional demeanor with a strong customer-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in time management, multitasking, and meeting deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Project, and Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with BIM/Navisworks/Autodesk is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with financial and construction project management software such as Sage 300 CRE and/or Procore.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
