Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health Nurse to provide medical care and support to employees at three locations, while promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Treat on-site injuries and refer to outside medical care as needed
- Manage cases of injured workers and facilitate their return to work
- Provide medical surveillance for all employees, including annual audiograms, spirometry, vision screening, and lead testing
- Conduct new hire pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and coordinate medical examinations
- Participate in ergonomics assessments and job hazard analyses
- Administer the Drug and Alcohol program according to company policy
- Train employees in First Aid and CPR/AED as Medical Responders to aid in the care of injured workers
- Train employees on Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Violence in the Workplace, Ergonomics, and Heat Stress to meet OSHA requirements
- Advise on Workers' Compensation claims as needed
- Administer FMLA
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation
- Deliver agreed-upon regional health metrics and outcomes
- Purchase supplies required for the first aid clinic
- Develop and meet site budget expectations
- Drive increased health outcomes, including reducing population health risks, managing and eliminating workplace health risks, and supporting improved business outcomes through advancing employee health and wellbeing
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- 2 or more years of hospital or clinic nursing experience
- Excellent assessment skills in a clinical setting
- Phlebotomy
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Travel as needed
- May not be related to another employee at the location of employment
- Preferred qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience in occupational nursing or emergency nursing and/or clinic experience
- 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or occupational environment
- Working knowledge of regulatory areas (ADA, OSHA, FMLA, Workers' Compensation)
- CPR/AED Instructor
- Health coaching/certification
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse
