Job Summary:

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health Nurse to provide medical care and support to employees at three locations, while promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Treat on-site injuries and refer to outside medical care as needed
  • Manage cases of injured workers and facilitate their return to work
  • Provide medical surveillance for all employees, including annual audiograms, spirometry, vision screening, and lead testing
  • Conduct new hire pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and coordinate medical examinations
  • Participate in ergonomics assessments and job hazard analyses
  • Administer the Drug and Alcohol program according to company policy
  • Train employees in First Aid and CPR/AED as Medical Responders to aid in the care of injured workers
  • Train employees on Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Violence in the Workplace, Ergonomics, and Heat Stress to meet OSHA requirements
  • Advise on Workers' Compensation claims as needed
  • Administer FMLA
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation
  • Deliver agreed-upon regional health metrics and outcomes
  • Purchase supplies required for the first aid clinic
  • Develop and meet site budget expectations
  • Drive increased health outcomes, including reducing population health risks, managing and eliminating workplace health risks, and supporting improved business outcomes through advancing employee health and wellbeing
Requirements:
  • Active RN license in the state of practice
  • 2 or more years of hospital or clinic nursing experience
  • Excellent assessment skills in a clinical setting
  • Phlebotomy
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Travel as needed
  • May not be related to another employee at the location of employment
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • 3 or more years of experience in occupational nursing or emergency nursing and/or clinic experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or occupational environment
  • Working knowledge of regulatory areas (ADA, OSHA, FMLA, Workers' Compensation)
  • CPR/AED Instructor
  • Health coaching/certification
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse
