Job Title: Occupational Health Nurse

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a skilled Occupational Health Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical care and support to employees at our facilities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Treatment of on-site injuries and referral to outside medical care as needed
  • Case management for injured workers and facilitate return to work
  • Provide medical surveillance for all employees, including annual audiograms, spirometry, vision screening, and lead testing
  • Conduct new hire pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and coordinate medical examinations
  • Participate in ergonomics assessments and job hazard analyses
  • Administration of the Drug and Alcohol program according to company policy
  • Responsible for training employees in First Aid and CPR/AED as Medical Responders to aid in the care of injured workers
  • Responsible for training employees on Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Violence in the Workplace, Ergonomics, and Heat Stress to meet OSHA requirements
  • Advise on Workers' Compensation claims, as needed
  • FMLA Administration
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation
  • Accountable for delivery of agreed-to regional health metrics and outcomes
  • Purchase all supplies required for the first aid clinic
  • Develop and meet site budget expectations
  • Drive increased health outcomes, including reducing population health risks, managing and eliminating workplace health risks, and supporting improved business outcomes through advancing employee health and wellbeing
  • Willingness to work closely with Safety Coordinators at the division level to recognize hazards and prevent injury

Qualifications:
  • Active RN license in the state of practice
  • 2 or more years of hospital or clinic nursing experience
  • Excellent assessment skills in a clinical setting
  • Phlebotomy
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Travel, as needed
  • May not be related to another employee at the location of employment
