Job Summary:

The Mobile County Public School System is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Army JROTC Instructor and Administrator to lead our JROTC program. As a key member of our school community, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful administration and implementation of the JROTC program, while maintaining good relations with school authorities, faculty, and student body.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer the JROTC program in accordance with law, regulation, policy, and principles, ensuring compliance and adherence to all relevant guidelines.
  • Advise school authorities on provisions of law and regulations affecting the conduct of the program, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Maintain positive relationships with school officials, faculty, and student body, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Conduct public affairs programs to enhance the prestige of the Army JROTC program, the school institution, and the US Army, promoting a positive image and reputation.
  • Enroll students in the JROTC program, supporting school officials in the conduct of these programs, and ensuring a smooth and efficient enrollment process.
  • Draft procedures for the administration, control, and training of JROTC cadets, including appointment, promotion, and demotion of cadet officers and non-commissioned officers, in coordination with the head of the institution.
  • Establish and lead extra-curricular activities, such as marksmanship, drill, athletics, and social events, to enhance the program and promote student engagement.
  • Attend Army JROTC summer camp with cadets from the school, as directed by the DAI, and participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the DAI, ensuring the successful execution of the JROTC program and the achievement of its goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Retired from the active Army with at least twenty (20) years of honorable service.
  • Certified by the US Army to teach the Army JROTC program.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with the rank of Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, or Colonel; or a Warrant Officer or Non-commissioned Officer with a BA/BS degree.
  • Meet and maintain medical and personal appearance standards as directed by the United States Army and pass a Government background check.
