Job Summary:

The Literacy Support Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing student success in English Language Arts, particularly in reading proficiency. This position involves delivering tailored instruction to individual students or small groups who require additional academic support. The Specialist is also tasked with tracking, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance effectively.



Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Deliver high-quality instruction to individual students and small groups.
2. Utilize data-driven approaches to tailor instruction and elevate students' skills to grade-level standards.
3. Collaborate with educators, administration, and families to identify effective strategies for individual and small group instruction.
4. Implement research-based documentation for continuous monitoring of student performance and progress.
5. Maintain comprehensive data records to track student performance over time.
6. Provide data insights to school teams and engage in discussions regarding student progress.
7. Communicate regularly with teachers, administration, and families about student achievements and areas for improvement.
8. Assist in identifying students for appropriate intervention groups.
9. Participate in collaborative meetings with educators and families to discuss student placement and progress.
10. Conduct diagnostic assessments for students as necessary.
11. Contribute to program development initiatives.
12. Support the implementation of assessment tools and data management systems.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Preferred experience in education
  • Ability to engage with a diverse student population

  • Demonstrated compassion and sensitivity towards youth
  • Ability to navigate various circumstances and respond appropriately
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Understanding of the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of the youth served
  • Ability to guide youth in applying essential life management skills
  • Capacity to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions accurately
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English with correct grammar and punctuation
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of student information
