Job Summary:
CNA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underwriting Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing, developing, and analyzing complex business risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex underwriting analysis to assess the acceptability of risks and develop specialized endorsement language.
- Determine pricing for complex risks based on financial and competitive analysis, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Make recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy to drive business growth and profitability.
- Analyze the quality, quantity, and profitability of underwritten risks and prepare reports for management.
- Market products and services through agencies and the brokerage community, and develop relationships with large producers to drive positive outcomes.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and participate in industry trade groups as needed.
- Mentor and guide less experienced underwriters and assist in the development of underwriting training programs.
- Utilize advanced functionality in CNA systems to perform day-to-day activities and support special underwriting projects and presentations.
Requirements:
- Advanced technical expertise in underwriting, insurance principles, and practices.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues, and demonstrate creativity in resolving unique business problems.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and guide less experienced underwriters.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with professional designations preferred.
- Typically a minimum eight years of underwriting experience.
