Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant II

OU Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant II to join our team in the Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Clinic. As a Certified Medical Assistant II, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, and performing lab and x-ray procedures as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor.
  • Contribute to the assessment and re-assessment of patients, monitoring and documenting patient status.
  • Manage large call volumes while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Organize workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner.
  • Retrieve and transport medications, instruments, and supplies.
  • Participate in the development of the plan of care, including implementation and evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions.
  • Reinforce patient education about medications, post-surgical care, special diets, and changes in treatment plans.
  • Transmit prescription refills as directed and arrange for hospital admissions and patient care services.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or similar patient care role preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
  • One of the following certifications required upon hire: Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Personnel, or Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
