Job Summary

The City of Atlanta is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Police Property Management Technician. This position is responsible for providing inventory control of police property, impounded and/or evidence property, or vehicles, in the assigned department's possession.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in inventory control functions, including taking and auditing inventories, and maintaining master inventory lists and cards.
  • Serve as liaison for the Atlanta Police Department and Bureau of Motor Transport Services, ensuring all property, evidence, and impounded vehicles are preserved, accounted for, released, and/or disposed of properly.
  • Assist the public and departmental personnel in matters relating to property, compile reports, and maintain and update records for proper documentation.
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments to meet set deadlines, work to meet goals and objectives of the department, and interact with people beyond receiving instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining current field and code manuals, policy and procedures, employee handbooks, various maps, etc. for reference and/or review.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required; 6 months clerical experience in property and records management in a similar law enforcement environment required.
  • Associate's degree or vocational training and 1-3 years' of clerical experience in property and records management in a similar law enforcement environment preferred.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license required; Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) training certification desired.
Work Environment

The typical environmental conditions associated with this job include working in a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions, and may require physical activity, including lifting and carrying equipment.
