Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our Medical Surgical Oncology unit at Fairview Health Services. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist professional nurses in delivering patient care, including transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and reordering and stocking supplies.
  • Provide basic patient care, including personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding, skin care, and oral hygiene.
  • Accurately take and record vital signs, including weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, and oxygen saturation.
  • Report unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
  • Orient patients and their families to the environment and ensure their belongings are accounted for and documented.
  • Transport patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies as needed.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
  • OR six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting.
  • OR current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, with completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program.
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
