The individual in this position will oversee the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers, ensuring their contributions align with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to contribute to the development and execution of care plans.
  • Encourages the integration of volunteers as a vital resource to enhance patient care.
  • Oversees the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of volunteers to fulfill administrative and patient care roles.
  • Ensures compliance with human resource policies during the recruitment process.
  • Conducts interviews and ensures all necessary background checks and health screenings are completed for prospective volunteers.
  • Implements initial and ongoing evaluations to assess training and support requirements.
  • Keeps detailed records of recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Monitors volunteer engagement metrics to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team regarding patient and family needs.
  • Educates team members about the role and impact of volunteers within the organization.
  • Prepares reports and documentation to illustrate the effectiveness of the volunteer program.
  • Utilizes various communication methods to engage and retain active volunteers, including newsletters and events.
  • Delivers comprehensive training sessions for new volunteers.
  • Facilitates at least four training sessions annually for current volunteers.
  • Manages volunteer services with a focus on utilization, documentation, and involvement in care plans.
  • Assigns roles to volunteers for patient care and administrative tasks, ensuring oversight of their activities.
  • Develops public service announcements to promote hospice volunteerism.
  • May step in as a patient care volunteer as needed to support care interventions.
  • Operates within budgetary constraints while managing volunteer program expenses.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in Social Services, Human Services, Resource Management, or a related field is preferred; or a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Prior experience in managing volunteer services or working within a non-profit organization is advantageous.
Skills
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Language Skills: Capable of reading and interpreting business documents, writing reports, and effectively presenting information.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Proficient in English; able to articulate and embrace the philosophy of hospice care; skilled in multitasking and delegating responsibilities.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment: The role requires regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity, with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity for close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are essential.
