Job Title: Financial Analyst I - CPPW

At the City of Portland, we are seeking a highly motivated Financial Analyst I to provide oversight of finance and accounting functions associated with the Maintenance Operations facility.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of public sector finance and accounting principles, methods, and techniques, as well as experience applying financial analysis techniques and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for governments.

Responsibilities will include reviewing and processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, managing account set up to track specific activities, and preparing journal entries and audit schedules as needed.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, the Accounting and Procurement teams, and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for compliance with City administrative rules, accounting principles, cost accounting specifications, and contract terms.
  • Manage account set up to track specific activities and maintain budget/cost accounting codes.
  • Prepare journal entries and audit schedules as needed.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience applying financial analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for governments.
  • Knowledge and experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) financial systems and asset management platforms.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
