We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Corporate Finance team.
About the Role:
- This is a full-time position that requires working in the office 2 days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to various functions in the Financial Reporting and Treasury Departments, including cash management, budgetary preparation, analysis, and reporting. They will also assist with abandoned property, 1099 filings, dividend calculations, deductible billing, and other accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare daily cash journal entries into the general ledger and perform account reconciliations.
- Support financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data.
- Communicate regularly with external banking contacts, internal colleagues, agents, and policyholders to resolve issues related to treasury management, employee expenses reports, dividends, or deductible billing.
- Assist with compliance and timely filing of 1099s and abandoned property for MEMIC Group.
- Research, calculate, and prepare monthly policyholder dividends, communicating with underwriting and following up on necessary corrections.
- Oversee accuracy of employee expense reports for timely and accurate general ledger coding and adherence to MEMIC Group policy.
- Ensure accuracy of deductible billing, communicate with billing and underwriting teams, and follow through on any necessary corrections.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations or reports by collecting data, analyzing variances, summarizing data, information, and trends.
- Respond to financial inquiries from internal and external business partners by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
- Provide financial advice by studying operational issues, applying financial principles and practices, developing policy and procedures, or reconciliation recommendations.
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 2-3 years of general ledger accounting experience and industry experience, or equivalent work and education experience.
- Sound understanding of accounting procedures and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently while demonstrating initiative and creativity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Excellent math skills with a high attention to detail.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
