Job Title: Home Visitor

At Children's Home and Aid, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home Visitor to join our team of professionals who share a common vision: an equitable world where all children and families thrive in strong communities.

The Home Visitor will play a critical role in our prevention and family support programs, providing comprehensive, long-term home-visiting services within a strength-based, family-centered model to high-risk expectant parents and families with young children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet regularly with expectant parents and families with young children (birth – 5) in their homes to complete assessments, develop goals, and provide services aligned with the strengths and needs of the child and family.
  • Provide observations of parent-child interactions, including assessing for effective communication and empathic responses, and engage parents in reflective dialogue on the developing parent-child relationship.
  • Assist parents in forming community connections aligned with service goals, including referral and linkage with providers of early intervention, mental health, health care, and other supportive services.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with key community providers.
  • May assist with facilitating parent support groups.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Social Work, Child Development, or a closely related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with families with children under the age of 5 (required).
  • Adept at communicating effectively – both in writing and verbally.
  • Knowledge of child development and parent-child relationships, and the ability to relate to families from a strengths-based, family-centered service model.
  • Ability to attend in-person and virtual family visits and meetings in DeKalb County, IL, and a valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.

Location and Schedule:

Hybrid (remote/in office); provide in-person, home- and community-based services in DeKalb County, IL, with the opportunity to work from our DeKalb office or your preferred remote location between meetings and events.

Full-time, hourly; general business hours with some flexibility required for evening family visits and special projects.
