Job Title: Director, Legal Data Protect

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director, Legal Data Protect to join our team at PayPal. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for leading our global data protection legal team and providing expert guidance on data security and technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance on data protection and security matters to business leaders and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement data security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with global regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data-driven business initiatives.
  • Advise on data security and technology infrastructure programs and provide support to product, platform, and technology teams.
  • Coordinate with local lawyers to evaluate and design products, services, and technologies for compliance with local data security regulations.
  • Develop and provide business partners with data security counseling and training.
  • Stay up-to-date on legal and regulatory developments impacting data privacy and security.
  • Manage potential liability and other legal aspects related to data security incidents.
  • Advising on responses to regulatory inquiries on data security issues.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience practicing law, preferably in-house or at a reputable law firm.
  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree and admission to a state bar.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to generate creative original documents.
  • Results-oriented, proactive, responsible, and pragmatic with a passion to solve complex problems in a creative and effective way.
  • Relevant technical certifications, such as CISM, CISSP, or CIPP, preferred.
