Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Specialist to support the Aerial Targets Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of aerial targets, implementing quality assurance functions, and performing maintenance tasks in accordance with NAVAIR specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Support: Provide technical support for aerial targets, including scheduling and managing targets and related equipment for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and perform quality assurance functions, including inspections and maintenance tasks, in accordance with published NAVAIR procedures and OEM guidelines.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Assist in troubleshooting and repairing aerial target systems, including reading and interpreting electronic and mechanical schematics and using test equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document results and maintenance actions electronically through the Navy's record-keeping system and prepare quality deficiency reports and periodic reports as required.
  • Training and Development: Provide operation and maintenance training to other technicians and prepare and submit training plans and reports.
  • Initial Inspections and Acceptance Tests: Perform initial inspections and acceptance tests on new target systems and build-up targets to meet proper operational configuration.
  • Post-Flight Inspections: Retrieve targets and perform post-flight inspections, documenting results and reporting findings.
  • Decontamination and Salvage: Assist in decontamination, salvage, and rebuilding targets as appropriate.
  • Procedure Development: Assist in preparing and developing new procedures, procedural changes, and modification proposals.
  • Direct and Remote-Control Operations: Perform Direct or Remote-Control Operator tasks during pre-flight and pre-launch tests and in-flight operations.
Work Environment

The Electronics Specialist will work in a variety of environments, including shop and target launch facilities, and may be required to work at remote sites and deploy at sea. The position requires the ability to work in harsh weather conditions and at extended operational hours, including occasional weekend and holiday activity during sustained periods of surge mission support.

Requirements
  • Education: High school or equivalent and 2-year technical school or equivalent training, such as Navy 'A' school or recognized correspondence.
  • Experience: Ten years of progressive experience in a related field, with a minimum of two years of experience in the specific field of aircraft electronics.
  • Skills: Possess PC skills, including MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.
