Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Authorization Coordinator II to join our Patient Financial Service team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for verifying patient eligibility, coordinating benefits, and ensuring insurance coverage for our patients. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care.
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient eligibility and coordinate benefits with insurance providers
- Ensure insurance coverage for patients and obtain authorization as needed
- Document patient information and authorization status in the electronic medical record
- Facilitate responses to patient inquiries regarding authorizations within turnaround standards
Requirements:
- HS Diploma or GED
- 1 year recent relevant experience
- Medical terminology, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)/Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS)/International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-9 coding knowledge
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word or similar programs
- Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions
- Active listening skills; including interpersonal skills and telephone communication
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position with a regular schedule of 40 hours per week. The position is eligible for work from home and is non-exempt.
