We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Services Specialist to join our team at Rio Grande Electric Cooperative, Inc. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in electrical systems and a passion for delivering exceptional service to our members.
Key Responsibilities- Perform substation inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our electrical distribution systems.
- Assist in the installation, testing, and repair of primary and secondary metering equipment.
- Inventory and manage various types of parts and equipment, including special equipment used in distribution and transmission systems.
- Perform building maintenance tasks as needed, including the use of ladders and other equipment.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of electronic control equipment and other technologies used in our industry.
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve our goals and objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in the electric utility industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including distribution and transmission systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) if required.
- Work may be performed in an awkward position, including stooping, bending, crawling, and climbing, in the installation, repair, and service of wiring and apparatus.
- Work may include the use of ladders ranging in height up to 20 feet.
- Some work may be performed in a confined area.
- Frequently lifts materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lifts items that weigh up to 100 pounds.
