Available positions may include Emergency Room, Neuro ICU, Progressive Care Unit, Neuro Step Down, Inpatient Transplant, Rehabilitation, Oncology, Orthopedic Neuro Trauma, Cardiac Care, Medical Surgical, Float Pool, Burn, and Operating Room Surgery. Shift schedules will vary according to departmental needs and availability.

Eligible candidates for full-time night shifts in Medical Surgical, Telemetry, Cardiac, and Progressive Care Units may receive a Sign-On Bonus of up to $20,000, which cannot be combined with other bonuses or HCA Loan/Scholarships.

A relocation bonus of $5,000 is available for candidates residing more than 50 miles from our facilities.

The HCA Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive year-long initiative designed to provide you with practical experience, fostering essential clinical and critical thinking skills. As a Graduate Nurse Resident, you will be supported by a community of nurse educators, seasoned nurses, and fellow residents who promote learning, clinical application, and social interaction, guiding you through the transition from student to registered nurse.

Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Research Medical Center equips you with the necessary tools to thrive in today’s healthcare environment. This compensated program facilitates your transition from academic learning to practical application through a structured series of educational experiences, including:

  • Advanced clinical training in a specialized area.
  • Monthly educational workshops.
  • Preceptorship training with an assigned facility preceptor.
  • Skill assessment and evaluation through hands-on simulations.
  • Mentorship from experienced nursing leaders.
  • Collaborative work on an evidence-based practice project.

The RN Resident is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with departmental requirements and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and other care team members, the RN Resident offers individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN Resident acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patient conditions upon admission and during each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as directed by medical providers. Document care administration in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitoring patients for therapeutic responses, and notifying providers of any unintended reactions.
  • Deliver exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and proactively addressing their needs.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring clear understanding of complex medical terminology.

Qualifications Required:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within one year of employment.
  • Other certifications may be required during employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state.
  • No prior experience necessary.
  • Some travel may be required for training purposes.
