Position Overview:

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the foremost airline pilot union globally, is seeking a Digital Content Developer & Trainer for our Tysons (McLean), VA office. ALPA represents over 77,000 pilots across 41 airlines in the United States and Canada.

The Digital Content Developer & Trainer is responsible for crafting engaging online experiences and translating extensive knowledge of web development into interactive training sessions for content editors, managers, and developers.

This role involves close collaboration with staff, members, and leadership to transform wireframes, concepts, and designs into functional and contemporary websites.

In addition to coding and styling websites, the individual will be part of a team tasked with updating, modifying, and publishing content on ALPA websites.

This diverse role necessitates the ability to seamlessly transition between web development, content management, and training, excelling in each area while demonstrating creativity, sound judgment, and a thorough understanding of the Association's digital objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate web design and development knowledge into engaging and interactive training materials for both in-person and digital delivery.
  • Possess a strong understanding of UI/UX design, web design, CSS, and HTML.
  • Exhibit comfort and proficiency in public speaking and training.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of relevant experience required; five (5) or more years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, IT, or Web Applications, from an accredited institution required; or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, for effective interaction with diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience in public speaking, presenting, and training.
  • Self-starter with professional maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and content management systems; experience with DNN and Sitecore preferred.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and performance metrics to inform development decisions.
  • Experience or awareness of labor unions, professional associations, and advocacy organizations is a plus.
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment is advantageous.

Software Proficiency:

  • Adobe Creative Suite, Jira or other project management tools, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
