Job Overview:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Part-Time Clinical Nursing Educators within the Health Technologies Division. This position is essential for the development and training of future nursing professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the program's objectives and clinical evaluation methodologies.
  • Provide effective clinical supervision to nursing students.
  • Deliver comprehensive clinical instruction tailored to student needs.
  • Conduct clinical competency assessments for each student under supervision.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in interactions with students.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance evaluation skills.
  • Regularly communicate with program leadership regarding student performance.
  • Assist in the management of student clinical documentation.
  • Uphold confidentiality in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Participate in the student selection process for program admission.
  • Contribute to meetings and committees aligned with educational goals.
  • Travel to various clinical sites may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in Virginia, with no disciplinary restrictions.
  • A minimum of two years of direct patient care experience as a registered nurse.
  • Compliance with all clinical area guidelines for student supervision.
  • At least an associate's degree in nursing.
  • Possession of a current American Heart Association BCLS certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships with diverse groups.
  • Strong conflict resolution abilities.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including software applications and report writing.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence and adherence to professional standards.
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish professional rapport with a diverse population.
  • Capable of completing projects independently without constant supervision.
  • Exhibit fairness and compassion in student interactions.
  • Adhere to legal and ethical standards in all responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods during labs or clinical sessions.
  • Proficient in demonstrating nursing-specific techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
