Job Title: Clinical Instructor - Practical Nursing

Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking a qualified Clinical Instructor to join our team in the Health Technologies Division.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide students with clinical supervision and instruction in the Practical Nursing Program.
  • Develop and implement clinical competency evaluation systems.
  • Participate in continuing education to improve and maintain competence in evaluation skills.
  • Meet regularly with program officials to communicate student progress, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Assist in maintaining student clinical records.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with program policy.
  • Participate in meeting and serves on committees consistent with the goals of the educational program.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current license or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia as a registered nurse with no disciplinary action that restricts the practice of nursing.
  • At least two years of direct client care experience as a registered nurse.
  • Meet the required guidelines for the clinical area in which they are supervising students.
  • Associate's degree in nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BCLS card.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BSN degree.
