Community Medical Services (CMS) is seeking a dedicated Addiction Recovery Counselor to support individuals in their journey to overcome dependencies on opioids and other harmful substances.

Our ideal candidate possesses the expertise necessary to assist clients in navigating the behavioral health challenges associated with the escalating opioid crisis.

In this role, you will facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, while also aiding clients in developing treatment plans and coping mechanisms, creating a nurturing environment for those embarking on their recovery path with CMS.

Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for a candidate who:
Is enthusiastic about working in an outpatient environment, similar to a medical office.

To excel in this position, you must be capable of:

Managing a caseload in accordance with regulatory standards and ratios.

Facilitating and co-facilitating educational presentations, group therapy, and individual counseling sessions.

Incorporating family and natural support systems into the client's treatment, respecting the client's preferences.

Staying informed about advancements in the field of substance use as mandated by specific state licensure.

Maintaining collaborative relationships with other substance use professionals, programs, and associations.

Mentoring less experienced CMS counselors as necessary.

Conducting thorough behavioral health assessments and creating individualized treatment plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and addressing unique client needs.


Assessing the effectiveness of treatment through ongoing evaluations of the client and their support systems, which may lead to adjustments in the service plan.

Coordinating care for clients who may require services outside the area or state prior to service termination.

Maintaining comprehensive and accurate client records.


Acting as the primary contact for coordination and communication with other systems where clinical insight into the case is essential.

Assisting in the screening and coordination of primary care services for clients.

Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required.

No specific license is required.

An active LAC license or higher is preferred.

Experience in behavioral health, counseling, or case management is preferred.
