Job Description

At the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex, we are seeking a highly skilled Stage Production Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for coordinating the stage equipment, labor, and resources necessary for the production of successful events in our Arena, Stadium, Concert Hall, and Theater.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance and operation of house audio and house lighting equipment for the facilities.
  • Main point of contact and operator for House Audio in Protective Stadium, Legacy Arena, Concert Hall, and Theater.
  • Operate House Lights and House Sound in Stadium and Arena as assigned.
  • Sets up and operates various sound and lighting equipment throughout the facilities as assigned.
  • Assist in coordinating labor calls with the Arena Stage Production Manager and Theatrical Stage Production Manager.
  • Coordinate stage production activities in Arena, Stadium, Concert Hall, and Theater.
  • Operate BJCC house sound and lighting equipment and resources during events.
  • Knowledgeable of Dante Routing System.
  • Experience assisting with audio and productions of live events.
  • Knowledgeable with the equipment required to produce audio and lighting productions of live events.
  • Coordinate and give direction to stagehand and production crews.
  • Work in multiple venues across the campus, including Arena, Stadium, Concert Hall, Theater, Exhibit Halls, and Meeting Space as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three (3) years related knowledge, experience, and skills in a structured stage production environment.
  • College Degree preferred or Technical School/Vocational School Diploma with equivalent education and experience in Audio Engineering, Mass Communications, or similar discipline.
  • Familiar with Dante show controls systems is preferred.
  • Experience with theatrical or live performance technical operations and equipment.
  • Valid State of Alabama Driver License.

Work Environment:

This position may have a moderate to extensive stress level associated with dealing with crowds of public visitors. The environment is mainly indoors, however, the position may be required to work outdoors and exposed to the elements (heat, rain, etc.). Potential hazards involving high places, working under structures such as lighting equipment and beams.

Physical Demands:

Position requires lifting, climbing, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling for extended periods of time. Extensive walking and/or standing. Ability to lift up to 50-pound items with or without assistance, while maintaining good balance. Must be flexible enough to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for extended periods of time. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to work in high places such as catwalks.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position; hours of work must be flexible and varied to meet the demands of the events of the facility. Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours, including day, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
