The Director, Strategic Investments plays a vital role in driving Chegg's growth trajectory by prioritizing and executing strategic initiatives. This highly visible role requires advocating thoughtfully on behalf of Chegg's strategic interests, catalyzing alignment and execution necessary to achieve them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the VP, Strategic Growth and internal stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Chegg's strategic priorities and pathways to fruition
  • Support and lead all phases of the M&A process, including target identification, relationship development, business analysis, valuation, negotiation, execution, and integration planning
  • Lead financial analyses to bring clarity to ROI, articulate business model implications, and reinforce long-term financial objectives
  • Prepare and deliver evidence-based presentations with compelling strategic narratives and rationale
  • Contribute to the development of supporting strategies that dovetail with Chegg's overall goals
  • Develop trusted relationships both internally and externally to sharpen strategic and competitive perspective

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or related field with direct experience leading M&A transactions
  • Significant experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams in M&A transactions, including thesis development, due diligence, negotiation, execution, and integration
  • Exceptional versatility, able to prioritize and zoom-in/zoom-out according to business needs
  • Highly proficient in business and financial analysis, able to synthesize meaningful insights with imperfect information
  • Substantial experience building relationships with senior management, both internally and externally
  • Able to report into Chegg's headquarters or New York office
  • Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated interest or direct experience in EdTech is a plus
