The Petroleum Construction Specialist is responsible for executing various tasks that involve physical labor at construction sites. This role primarily supports construction tradespeople or electricians, which may include transporting tools and materials or assisting in the setup of equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Foreman, take on a leadership role to manage a specific phase of work and oversee the completion of tasks by team members.
Effectively communicate with heavy equipment operators, including track hoe and loader operators, during excavation activities.
Demonstrate proficiency in operating small machinery, such as skid steer loaders or backhoes, as needed.
Assist in cutting and threading steel piping and support the installation of both underground and above-ground tanks.
Collaborate with the Foreman in grade shooting and assist with basic documentation.
Maintain a tidy and organized job site in accordance with the Foreman's instructions.
Ensure a safe working environment by verifying that all safety signs, barricades, and equipment are in place, and that appropriate personal protective equipment is worn during tasks.
Keep tools organized, clean, and stored properly in the truck or job trailer.
Manage job inventory according to the Foreman's directives.
Proactively communicate and anticipate potential issues to aid in planning.
Represent the company positively and uphold a professional appearance.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a construction vehicle and tow small trailers when necessary.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Basic mathematical and mechanical skills.
- Experience in HVAC, pipefitting, petroleum construction, or a related field is preferred.
- Must meet the company's employment criteria, including passing a drug screening, criminal background check, and motor vehicle record check if driving for the company.
Physical Demands:
Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, with frequent bending, stooping, and standing for 8-10 hours daily.
